Sungnyemun also know as Namdaemun is one of eight gates from old city wall which in old days surrounded Seoul. Also designated as first national treasure of South Korea. Check opening hours!
It’s wrapped by buildings on any side and sits in a roundabout, which unfortunately makes the view not that impactful. It’s a short walk from Seoul Station so it’s worth the visit if you have time.
1395년(태조4) 시작 ~ 1398년(태조7) 완성, 1447년(세종29) 개축, 2008년 화재. 1962년 12월 20일 국보 제1호로 지정. 현존하는 서울의 목조건물(木造建物) 중 가장 오래된 건물이지만 2008년 2월 10일에 발생한 화재로 2층 문루 소실, 1층 문루 일부 화재로 홍예문과 석축만 남음. 현재 수리 중
